Dental
Quality dental coverage is more than a simple health benefit. It's an investment in employees' total health — an investment that can result in increased productivity and lower overall health care costs.
For example, research shows a possible link between periodontal disease and certain ongoing health conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease. It may also be connected to other conditions such as premature labor. The good news is that routine dental care can have a positive effect on these conditions, because it allows for the early identification and treatment of dental problems.
We offer four dental plans for employers to choose from — including both our standard and lower-cost preventive plans. This allows them to find the best plan for their employee population.
Dental Indemnity Plan
Employees can visit any licensed dentist for preventive care, basic and major services. Depending on the plan selected, services are generally subject to deductibles, coinsurance and annual and lifetime maximums. Claim forms may also be required.
Dental PPO Plan
Employees have the freedom to visit any licensed dentist for preventive, basic and major services — with additional savings when they use a participating U.S. provider.
Aetna Dental Preventive CareSM Indemnity Plan
Employees enjoy the freedom to visit any licensed dentist for preventive and diagnostic services. They simply pay the dentist the full amount at the time of service, and then submit a claim for reimbursement. Employees can also enjoy discounts on restorative care, teeth whitening and adult orthodontia.
Aetna Dental Preventive CareSM PPO Plan
Similar to the Dental PPO plan, the Dental Preventive Care PPO plan offers coverage for preventive and diagnostic services such as dental exams, cleanings and X-rays. Employees can also enjoy discounts on restorative care, teeth whitening and adult orthodontia, and benefit from additional savings when they use a participating U.S. provider.
Aetna Discount Program
Members can save money and stay well with the Aetna Discount Program* — a program that is automatically included with their Aetna health benefits. Members can get discounts on a variety of products and services as it relates to books, fitness, home products, hearing, natural products and services, oral health care and vision.
* These discount offers provide access to discounted services and are not part of an insured plan or policy so there are no claims and no referrals. Rather, these are valuable discounts that members can access while in the U.S. and when covered by an Aetna medical plan. The member is responsible for the full cost of the discounted services. Aetna may receive a percentage of the fee paid to a discount vendor.
Emergency Assistance Services
Our emergency assistance services give employees the comfort of knowing that help is available for virtually any urgent situation, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our team of specialized clinicians and case managers are able to seamlessly coordinate with the emergency assistance provider.
Available services include emergency medical evacuations, security consultations, medical provider referrals, translation services and legal referrals, as well as assistance with lost or stolen travel documents, repatriation, and more.
Health Care Counseling – 24-Hour Nurse Line
Aetna’s 24-Hour Nurse Line gives employees convenient, toll-free access to registered nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our nurses can provide a variety of health information — when employees need it most.*
*24-Hour Nurse Line Services are provided by 24-Hour Nurse Line, Inc. 24-Hour Nurse Line nurses cannot diagnose, prescribe or give medical advice. Members should first contact their doctor with any questions or concerns regarding their health care needs.
Employee Assistance Program
Personal issues shouldn’t detract from an employee’s health or assignment, however, challenges can arise. This can be especially true when facing the cultural adjustment issues that can be associated with an international relocation.
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help employees and their families address issues that may arise while on assignment. Services include 24-hour crisis intervention, up to five counseling sessions (in person or by telephone) per plan year, management consultation, Web-based health and wellness information and self-assessment tools.
Pharmacy
By combining pharmacy benefits with your medical plan, you’re creating a total benefits solution that can help you manage your health care costs. Our pharmacy plan offers employees the flexibility of filling prescriptions at virtually any pharmacy in the world. When the prescription is filled, the employee simply submits a claim to us for reimbursement.
Employees who seek pharmacy benefits in the United States have access to Aetna's extensive U.S. retail pharmacy network. The network includes the U.S., the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam. Employees can also receive up to a 12-month supply of covered medications before leaving on assignment. Employees or dependents who reside in the United States also have access to Aetna's mail-order pharmacy, the Aetna Rx Home Delivery®program. This program offers up to a 90-day supply of covered medications, providing the prescription is issued by a United States board-certified medical professional.
Vision
An employee's overall health and wellness is critical to a successful, productive assignment—especially when it comes to their eyesight. Our vision program includes coverage for eye exams under our medical plans. It also features a separate eyewear benefit for lenses, frames and contact lenses. This benefit provides a flat dollar amount that can be applied to any type of eyewear purchase. Additionally, employees and dependents who reside in the United States have access to the Aetna VisionSM discount program, regardless of whether a vision benefit is included in their medical plan.
